I have said it before, I say it again! I really enjoy receiving the free weekly sutras from Nischala Joy Devi’s Abundant Wellbeing site. Some speak to me more than others, of course, and this one, well, read it for yourself:
2:5 Innocence of our Divine Nature (Avidya) Encourages Identification with the Ever-Changing, rather than with the Inner Stillness of the Heart.
When turning our view inward, a grand discovery awaits us, a sacred place where stillness and peace abide, encouraging our hearts to blossom.
This is such a positive translation of Sutra 2.5. Avidya is usually translated as ignorance of our true nature, or wrong knowledge, but I agree that we are indeed innocents looking for a way out of the woods. So much kinder so put things that way. So much less judgement inherent in the choice of words.

Wow!! Thanks so much for sharing this! I will be checking out her web site to get these sutras. My favorite translation (of the few I’ve been exposed to) has been Desikachar’s in The Heart of Yoga. But comparing his with Devi’s I find the latter much more attainable and practical to every day life.
Blessings and love to you,
Kris
