Happy List, week ending 27 Sep 09
September 28, 2009

It’s been a very happy week, so here goes!
- Listening to Beth Orton in bed while it rains outside
- Planning to bake Nigella’s sinful delicious chocolate cake (out of How to be a Domestic Goddess, of course)
- Jaimal Yogis’ imminent visit to Melbourne. Check out his fall book tour schedule here
- Looking forward to cupcakes and tea with my friend Leigh-Ann, in just a few hours
- Having the lushest girlie weekend in Mount Martha, at a friend’s beautiful home. Champagne (Domayne Chandon no less), Green and Black’s butterscotch chocolate, staying in our pyjamas or yoga clothes most of the day, girl talk and doggie love. And no mobile phone reception
- Being totally ok with today, now, as it is. It’s so weird – I catch my mind saying, oh, but what about the FUTURE? And then I come back to samadhi, sahaj samadhi – the Union that always exists, and I know that all that went before was as it should be, all that comes will be as it should be, and now, now is just as it should be. Probably why I am feeling Beth right now – these lyrics sum it up perfectly
- And not needing to dissect things minutely, but rather meet what comes up now, and it’s enough
- Simple happiness, seeded in my mind, rolling in my mouth like a smooth stone
- Coming home from the weekend away and looking forward to opening my front door
- Being driven places. It’s so much nicer than driving. Yes, I am still going to sort my license out, I’m just saying is all
- Practicing my yoga next to my friend Pamela and hearing her ujjayi breath, feeling her movement as I move, different but the same. So powerful, so intimate, so safe. This is why I love the idea of Free Form Final Friday. I hope this is what people get from those practices
- Pretty dresses and scented candles from Miss Lau
- Having things turn out so much better than I thought they would, because I gave them space to. It’s a new thing for this little control freak
- Feeling so loved. I got back from the weekend of no phone reception (well, one night actually) to find FIVE messages waiting for me. All from people who knew I had been away. I am so so lucky
- Running randomly into a friend on a tram late one night last week. How lovely!
- Giving gifts that are really worthwhile
- Receiving gifts and kindnesses. Still practicing doing this with grace
And you, what made you happy this week?

How did you go with the delightful Mrs Lawson’s sinful delicious chocolate cake?
Oh, I mean … fabulous week, Nadine
Is it just me, or does my avatar on the left look like an angry piece of toast?
