Happy List, week ending 4 October

October 6, 2009

Late again, but hey….

I am just finding that real (non-cyber) life is taking up all my time and interest right now. This is probably as it should be: I am fully aware that I haven’t posted a ‘proper’ post in a very long time. I will. When I feel called to again. I have a whole bunch planned, but then I keep choosing to go out and do stuff instead of being online. And maybe at some stage I will finally get to replying to all your lovely comments – I do read them, despite my deafening silence in response, and I really really do appreciate them!

Sooooo, here is my happy list!

The things this week that have made me happy, content, spacious, and joyful:

  • That people still read and leave comments on this blog, even though I don’t (lately) reply
  • The beach, the beach the beach. I went on Sunday with a favourite friend. We ate ice cream. It rocked
  • Daylight savings. More time in the evenings for the beach, and hanging out
  • Coming home to company. Good company, at that. It could have gone either way
  • Meeting people I have only ever known on email before – like Jaimal Yogis, the author of Saltwater Buddha. Full post on his book launch in Melbourne coming soon!
  • Fun fun weekends in the sun
  • Looking forward to another fun weekend in the sun, in Castlemaine with this lovely lady
  • Shopping. Yes, I know this is probably naughty, but it’s true: shoes, perfume, underwear, dresses. I have loved buying them all. Perhaps I will slow down a little now? Doubt it though, the girls in the house have just introduced me to a great new lingerie shop, and we are planning a trip to Camberwell Market, source of all bargains, on Sunday
  • Eight weeks till Mark Whitwell and FEEEEJEEEEE. Wooohooo!
  • Having lunch with a friend and laughing till my belly hurt. At myself, mostly
  • School holidays, which meant I taught less than usual. And the end of school holidays and getting back into a routine
  • Going new places. This week it was the Waterside Hotel (yes, I know, I am a useless Melburnian), St Patrick’s Cathedral, and The Palace Cinema in Balwyn
  • Finally coming back to cooking; I have felt quite disrupted the last few months and the closest I have come to cooking has been making salad or opening a tin of chickpeas. I made pasta the other night. It’s not much, but it’s a start!

What made you happy this week?

You sound so happy, Nadine! Isn’t it good when real life is far more important than blogging life? I envy you your times at the beach. I am hanging out for summer but here in New Zealand winter has [temporarily] returned. Soon …
