I found Kate Graham and her Kaya Yoga clothing range by way of random Etsy search, as you do. When you wear yoga pants all day, every day, you sometimes get very bored with your standard-issue lulus. I’ve been wearing the same three(ish) outfits for almost four years. Booooooooring.
In the run up to my photo shoot for the yogAttitude cards, (and now for my DVD) I really wanted something a little unique to wear. Enter Kate & Kaya.
I absolutely love the rock-chick aesthetic of her Kaya Yoga range, and I also love that she is a small business owner, running her business ethically. Oh, and the price point is fantastic, especially once you get your order and see the great quality fabrics are and how well-cut the garments are. Most of the professional pics of me on this site, and on my yogAttitude cards, involve one or more items of her clothing.
Kate is an Ashtanga yoga teacher and practitioner and she knows from experience what is and isn’t comfortable. Her ‘Saraswati’ top is the most comfortable yoga top I have ever owned. Hands down. I find it gives me more support than most shelf bra tops do, but without the breath-reducing constriction around the ribcage.
Here’s the thing: Kate’s also an artist, so you get this funkalicious range of clothes that have just the right amount of edge. Even if, you are, like me, at a more…mature…age.
And don’t even get me started on the snakeskin print. I have a bit of a thing for animal print at the best of times, and this woman is just enabling me further. Snakes and feathers (like….peacock feathers). It’s heaven for me.
Look at what I mean:

That grey wrap top? I have it. I wear it all the time.

Those snake-print pants? You may have noticed me wearing them. My favourites by far.

Those pants again. I have the top too, but mine's blue with a bleached out star. I wear it when I want to feel glamourous.

The best thing of all? Kate has agreed to add her superstylin’ touch to my DVD which I’m filming in Bali on 2 December.
Can’t believe it’s come along already! So exciting!
