strong*stretched*serene – the DVD is here! (just about)

Hey folks

What a massive year it’s been. So many changes, so many projects, and learning a completely new way to be. The last of those projects was this DVD – filmed in Bali, and still in post-production. But it’s nearly there, so I am ready to put it on pre-release, as promised! Get an eyeful of the lush beauty that is Ubud!

Here’s an excerpt (the birdsong you hear is exactly how Ubud sounds – that’s how the DVD sound recorded! SO awesome). I have given mirrored instructions as though I were standing in front of you in a real class situation :)

And some stills:

What this DVD includes:

  • Two 30 minute practices: one a bit stronger than the other
  • A core strength and balance sequence
  • A kneeling, seated and reclining practice for those days when your energy is low but you still want to get your yoga on

What the Prerelease Special includes:

  • First rights to the DVD, with shipping on the day of release
  • PLUS the Art of Observation eBook, worth $19 all on its own, as an extra bonus! Cool huh?
  • Oh, and free shipping! To anywhere. Just for pre-releasers.

This offer is only valid until the DVD’s official release date (expected 24 Jan). And yes, you can use any other discount codes you have in conjunction with this special.

And the cost? $22, all up!

Wow, Nadine, your awesomeness quota just went up several notches. Thank you for such a thorough run-down. I think there’s plenty in there to keep me happy, especially sequence A. You sold me!

Well, Nadine, I would LOVE to pre-order your DVD because I think you’re awesome. But I have to say that the little clip you posted there kinda put me off [as lovely as it is to look at]. That series of poses you did is so far beyond my capabilities I could feel my hamstrings protesting just by watching! Please tell me there is plenty of gentler stuff on your DVD. Then I’ll buy it :-)

I think YOU are awesome too, as you know :) And I love the good, honest feedback your hamstrings, er, I mean you,  are giving me about the sequence in the clip.

Since gentle is relative to how our bodies are made, here’s a rundown of some of the other sequences in the video:

Kneeling cat-cow, seated shoulder stretches, standing side stretches by way of warm ups.

      Then:

Sequence A (more or less in order): Sun salutes: starting with down-dog-hands and knees-child, then progressing (maybe) to up dog and chaturanga. Standing balance, lifting the bent knee high, then tree. Bridge, Core work, boat, twists and leg dips, with bent knees Side stretches, side plank with one knee down, some work on the obliques. Reclining stretches. You are likely to loathe at least some of these. :) But the reclining twist and Dead Pigeon are good for most bodies.

Cool Down much the same as the warm up.

      Relaxation

Sequence B (again more or less in order): Sun Salutes Pam Special (Basically sun salutes with all the Warrior Poses thrown in, first moving, then staying in them). THAT sequence from the clip. Core work, similar to Sequence A. Seated stretches (you will hate these, unless you bend your knees good and proper)

      Cool down

      Relaxation.

Core strength sequence: a quick sequence that just contains the warm up and the core stuff.

Gentle sequence: kneeling, seated, some standing side stretches (so basically the warm up) and then a reclining practice. Similar to the one in Sequence A.

There may be enough there for you, there may not – I totally hear what you say about the hamstrings, and I will keep it in mind for the next one, Gaaak!

Will this play in the UK? If so, I’d love to place a pre-order.

    • nadinefawell December 12, 2011 at 9:37 pm #

It should: and most DVD players are multi zone these days. A few folks from the UK have ordered already. I’m happy to give you refund if it doesn’t work on your side of the water :)
