Event Schedule

This is a list of my currently scheduled upcoming events. Visit the Past Events page to see what kind of stuff has been and read a few reviews!

Evolve Yoga Festival Melbourne

When: 3 & 4 March 2012

Where: Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne

Cost: $39 day tickets of $59 full weekend. See Evolve site for full details.

What you get for that:

Well, a whole bunch of awesomeness, really. Lots of yoga, lots of well-known teachers. I will be presenting both days on Yoga for Trauma Survivors. Talks, research discussion, tools, and of course some yoga practice: fluidly repeated movements to build flexibility, followed by long holds to increase strength and stability. As we hold the poses, we practice self-examination to figure out what’s really going on for us and find a way to rest in the discomfort, becoming strong enough to heal.

This is, as most of you know, a cause very close to my heart. You don’t have to be a victim for the rest of your life: you can step into your strength and become a survivor.

Self Alignment Kit Workshop with Kerry Belviso

When: Saturday 17th March, 1-4:30pm

Where: Flavours of Yoga, First Floor 2a Barkly Avenue, Armadale

Cost: $160

What you get for that:

A great day learning how to unblock yourself – become your own life coach, basically. I will be guest teaching a short yoga component here, and Kerry will run the rest of the workshop – find out more and book at her site.

Yoga: Make it YOURS!

When:  26 & 27 May 2012  - Sat 10.30 – 4.30 (6 hours), Sun 11 -3 (4 hours)

Where: Flavours of Yoga, 2a Barkly St, Armadale

Cost: $350

What you get for that:

Bring your dodgy knees, your twisted back, your aching wrists. Bring your anxiety, your grief, your post-traumatic stress (and I’ll bring mine).

We will spend the weekend learning how to modify yoga practice for individual needs, both emotional and physical.

The great yoga teacher, Krishnamacharya, teacher of my teachers, once said:

Teach what you know not as it applies to you, but as it applies to the Other.

And that is the essence of Yoga: modified for each individual and their needs. We can ALL do yoga, it’s for everyone, not just those who are flexible, or thin, or emotionally sorted. C’mon, let’s be honest, most of us start yoga because we are looking to bring things like that into our lives! And I, for one, definitely don’t bend right for yoga…

The workshop will be tailored to the particular needs of the people in the group, so come with lots of questions.

The sessions will be videotaped and you will receive an edited down DVD to use as a resource afterwards.

Clifftop Winter Retreat 2012

When: 16 & 17 June 2012

Where: Clifftop Boutique Accommodation, Philip Island

Cost: $620 per person single, $575 twin share

What you get for that:

  • Two days and one night of beautiful accommodation
  • Five yoga classes (three on day one, two on day two)
  • Morning and afternoon tea and lunch both days, and breakfast on Sunday. Too much food, but in a good way
  • Clifftop’s famous coffee and service

This weekend retreat was a great hit in 2011: we all yoga-ed and ate far too much and had a great time! You can read about it here.

As with all my events, I like to keep the numbers small so everyone gets personal attention.

A $200 non-refundable deposit secures your spot, with the balance due by 31 May. To book, click through to the event page and select the ‘deposit’ option from the drop-down list.

As we hold the poses, we practice self-examination to figure out what’s really going on for us and find a way to rest in the discomfort, becoming strong enough to heal.

You can step into your strength and become a survivor, and you can guide others to do the same.
